The top two teams in the Bundesliga face off as second placed RB Leipzig take on already crowned champions Bayern Munich at the Red Bull Arena in Leipzig.
RB Leipzig Recent Form
RBL have surprised everyone this season, already qualifying for the Champions League in their first ever season in the top flight of German football.
They need just a point from their last two games to guarantee a second-placed finish, as they sit six points ahead of Dortmund who are in third.
Unbeaten in their last seven league games, with five wins and two draws, they also haven’t conceded a goal in their last four games at home.
Despite their solid form, they did labour to a goalless draw against second-from-bottom Ingolstadt in their most recent home game.
Bayern Munich Recent Form
With a ten-point lead over their nearest rivals, Bayern have already secured their fifth consecutive Bundesliga title. It is their 26th title since the formation of the Bundesliga in 1963.
The champions are unbeaten in their last five and defeat away at Hoffenheim on 4th April is their only loss in the league in 2017. In fact, they have only lost twice in the league this season.
Head to Head Record
As RB Leipzig were only formed in 2009 and this is their first ever season in the Bundesliga, it’s no surprise that these two teams have only ever met once before.
That game was earlier on this season, in December, when Bayern won 3-0 at home thanks to goals from Thiago Alcantara, Xabi Alonso and Robert Lewandowski. RBL played for about an hour with ten men, after Emil Fosberg was sent off in the first half.
Betting Odds and Predictions
It’s difficult to pick a winner in this game, despite Bayern being the favourites at 10/11 with Bet William Hill. Find here special free bet offers.
With them already crowned champions, they may not be as fired up for the game as they would have been if the title hadn’t yet been secured. Two seasons ago, they were so far ahead that they allowed their form to drop off and they lost three of their last four league games.
For that reason, RB Leipzig could be a good bet at 16/5 and the draw is an even bigger possibility at 5/2.
If you go on recent statistics, this could turn out to be a low scoring affair. RBL failed to score in their last home game and Bayern have failed to find the net in two of their last three away from home.
RBL’s last five home games and Bayern’s last five away, in the league, have seen just one team score. Also, only one team scored in the only previous meeting between these sides. Therefore, betting on both teams not to score is a solid bet at 5/4.
If both teams fail to score, it would make it less likely for the game to be a high scoring affair. Betting on Under 2.5 goals is priced at 6/5 and could be worth a punt.
With it looking likely to be a low scoring match, betting on one team to win to nil may provide the best value. In this market, RB Leipzig are 15/2 and Bayern are 11/4.
A solid defensive display from both teams could see a 0-0 draw, which is priced at 14/1.
However, if you think this game will go against recent statistics and the teams will produce a goal fest, it’s 4/7 for Both Teams to Score and 13/20 for Over 2.5 goals.
If you think there will be goals, the player to back in the goal scorer market simply must be Robert Lewandowski. The Polish striker has 28 league goals this season, level in the race to be top scorer with Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang of Dortmund.
He will be keen to finish as Bundesliga top scorer for a second consecutive season, so is worth backing to find the net in this match.
He’s 8/13 with William Hill to score any time and is 13/5 to score the first goal. Learn more about Will Hill in our review.
Top Betting Tip
With it being difficult to pick a winner and this match looking like a potentially low scoring affair, it’s hard to come up with a top betting tip. However, we have and think that the most likely outcome from this match will be a draw. This is priced at 5/2 with Bet365. We also believe there will be under 2.5 goals, which is our second best bet and priced at 6/5 with the same bookmaker. Check out our new esports betting section.
